Bactest was founded to exploit the clear market potential for a new type of automated instrument which responds to the need for microbial monitoring in a diverse range of locations or applications and which addresses modern safety issues. Existing machines are unable to respond to point of use needs within markets where services are increasingly centralised.

The result has been the development of a microbial contamination testing technology platform featuring rapid detection with all the benefits of existing automated systems but in a small, transportable, low power unit incorporating advanced, state of the art components and materials.

The technology platform has application in a variety of industries including, Research, Environmental, Food and Industrial, Veterinary, and Human Microbiology.

Our innovative technology acts as an effective and sensitive microbial respirometer and therefore has application in industries where microbes are an active part of a process and where monitoring can facilitate improved control and efficiency. Wastewater management has recently been highlighted as one such application.


Bactest has an expanding management team and board of directors with a wealth of technical and commercial experience.
