Thursday, January 26 2012. UK based BACTEST Ltd. today announced that it had closed a £900k funding round led by the Low Carbon Innovation Fund (LCIF), managed by Turquoise International, which invested £300k in BACTEST.
Bactest has created a wholly owned subsidiary to exploit its proprietory platform CYTOMAIA in the Human Health Sector. The new company GEMINI Diagnostics Ltd will focus on human clinical applications of CYTOMAIA.

Bactest has successfully developed and trialled prototype instruments that measure the respiration rate of microbial populations by means of sensitive pressure changes. We have core competencies in the generation of useful data from minute biological events.
Our respirometer technology platform CYTOMAIA although originally designed for rigorous testing in clinical situations has many applications to include Wastewater management, industrial microbiology for rapid release of product, and general laboratory applications.
