Culture Vessel

A disposable culture vessel of entirely novel design which is compact and represents a fundamentally different approach to the conventional ‘glass bottle’ format.

The culture vessel was designed from first principles incorporating a series or features to optimise rapid detection.

The vessel is very robust and includes integral components and features to control or contain pressure changes.

Additional features provide added safety and protection to technicians using the vessel, meaning that potentially dangerous or virally infected samples can be tested, minimising the potential for accidents.

Although compact the vessel has the advantage of accepting up to 10ml of sample for improved detection rate, and yet can provide a 1 in 10 dilution ratio (total volume 100 ml) to negate any anti-microbial components in the sample.

A smaller paediatric version has been developed for use in child blood cultures.

In normal use one aerobic and one anaerobic unit would be used for each sample. Each of these include particular formulations for the culture media and specific head space gas atmosphere compositions.

There is also scope for additional formulations enabling the system to culture a wide range of organisms by utilizing specific or selective media.
